Jesus' Stripes
Introduction
In The Creation Seal I showed that a holographic seal can be formed when Genesis 1.1 and John 1.1 are joined, with John coming after Genesis when you read right to left (as indicated by two encodings). At the centre of the seal is hexagon 1519 within a prepared setting, trumpeting that this is an important object. In fact the hexagon acts as a kind of holograph beaming images to us from, in a sense, the future. Here is the seal on its own.
As the previous pages show, John 1.1 and the entire seal are saturated with numbers relating to the gematria of the Word, John's Logos, and Jesus Christ, affirming that Jesus was the Word become flesh, was crucified for man's sin, then was resurrected to give eternal life to those who have faith in him and obey his Word. This message is given in pictures in another page in The Holographic Seal.
A common Christian belief is that Jesus received 39 stripes after his trial. [1] This is based on Jewish law, which allowed no more than 40 lashes. 39 was commonly given in case of miscounting. Roman law did not forbid more than 40 lashes, and the Bible states only that Jesus was flogged, for example:
Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.
Jn 19.1
Whether or not 39 stripes were given the belief is part of Christian tradition and symbolic of the fact that the maximum penalty was given for Jesus' claim to be the Messiah. The number 39 is symbolic in another way, because 39 is the reduced value of these titles:
The Word (r) = 39
Lord God (r) = 39
In addition we have
The Word (o) = 93
John 1.1 (TR) = 3627 = 39 x 93
The sum of The New Garden component verses (G1.1 MT, G1.1-5 NIV, John 1.1 TR) is 10092, which is a large trefoil with properties all pointing to Jesus Christ. When added to its digit reversal of 29001, it introduces the Word once more:
10092 + 29001 = 39093
By analogy, Genesis 1.1 sums to 2701, which is 37 x 73. Adding 2701 to its mirror number of 1072 gives 3773. [2]
Trefoil 430
One of the images shown on the holographic seal is trefoil 430, which is a first-stage antisnowflake cut from triangle 595, the Bible's central chapter and the geometric basis for the Seal's twin message of sanctification through faith and obedience. Here is the image again
1. Trefoil 430 symbolises the Greek word for Law, nomos. For the Hebrews this meant the law of Moses by which they lived. For Christians, however, it can mean the Law of Spirit, as proclaimed by Paul.
" . . . . because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death."
Rom 8.2, NIV '84
This was acheived through the blood of the Messiah, by whose wounds, including (39) stripes, we are healed.
'But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.'
Isaiah 53.5 (NIV '84
On the day of the Crucifixion the temple curtains tore, showing that salvation was now for the whole world, not just believing Jews.
And again in 1 Peter:
'“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross,
so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness;
“by his wounds you have been healed.”'
1 Peter 2.24 (NIV '84)
The stripes Jesus bore came from the lashes he was given. Based on this verse, Deuteronomy 25.3, he is traditionally thought to have received 40 minus 1 lashes to avoid breaking the law. [7]
'but the judge must not impose more than forty lashes.
If the guilty party is flogged more than that,
your fellow Israelite will be degraded in your eyes.'
Deut. 25.3
The word the NIV uses here is 'wounds' instead of 'stripes'. The word 'stripes' is used one time in the NIV, in Genesis 30.37.
'Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar,
almond and plane trees and made white stripes on them
by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches.'
Gen 30.37 (NIV '84)
This verse prefigures Jesus Passion, Jesus being 'the branch'.
Star 3037
The two verses just quoted have chapter and verse numbers of 25.3 and 30.37. These can be read as 253 and 3037. These numbers imply hexagram 3037, which is the stellation of hexagon 1519 and has a crown made of triangle 253!
The number 253 is the gematria of six Hebrew words around the idea of speech and is the generating triangle for the Logos star and more.
The generating triangle for the above star is triangle 2278. Here 253 combines with 363 to give 616 and a picture of Jesus as the Word, becoming the Law.
Judgment is the Lord's alone!
Christians follow the Law of God's grace, Incarnating as Jesus Christ and through his death and Resurrection replacing the old Mosaic law. An earlier page showed how we follow the Law of God's Grace, which is our sanctification.
The generating triangle for trefoil 430 is triangle 595, representing transgression. The trefoil created by the removal of three small triangles creates an image of the transgressor now 'under the Law' and pierced by the Word of God - this refining process creates something beautiful inside us, symbolised by these exquisite antisnowflakes.
So the crown around this hexagon, here representing Jesus' crown of thorns, is fashioned entirely from the Word!
253 is also a hexagram and if we create a trefoil from three of them we encounter Jesus as the Word once more.
Jesus' Stripes
The New Garden's is composed of one verse from the Hebrew Bible, one verse from the Greek New Testament and five verses from the English NIV. I place the NIV verses in the centre, giving 151.
....1 verse ......................................5 verses ............................1 verse
However, there are three way of arranging them: 151, 115 and 511. The first to numbers suggest Jesus Christ:
Jesus Christ (o) ..................= 151
Yehoshua HaMashiach (o) = 115
The third number is found as the sum of the first nine rows of Pascal's Triangle, already an integral part of the code. This gives us two very graphic images portraying Jesus' flogging:
The second one shows an alternative stripe pattern and repeats the same information.
The combined value of 'Jesus' stripes' is 1314, which is encoded within the Genesis 1.1 portion of the New Garden and which forms a crown of thorns upon Jesus' head. This is composed of eighteen triplets of hexagrams, each triplet summing to 219 each (found above) and summing to 1314.
Jesus' Stripes (c) = 1314
I'd like to finish by showing how Jesus taking man's punishment for man's transgressions has been illustrated on the Holographic Seal, which is also where we find the standard value of the same phrase.
Triangle 595, representing man's transgression, is transformed by the refining process into trefoil 430. Within hexagon 1519 it is then surrounded by three figures summing to 363 units, which total 1089 units.
Jesus said:
"For my yoke is easy and my burdern is light."
Matt. 11.30
Man's punishment for transgression was paid in full by Jesus on the cross. By His stripes we are healed. All mankind has to do to receive that healing is place their faith in God and follow His Word.
The next page with reveal the location of Jesus' crown of thorns.

Notes
1. My thanks to Kathryn LeCorre for reminding me of the importance of the stripes in connection with 39.
2. As these examples show, mirror sums have proven their worth.
